Ambulance Cost
Air Ambulance
Ambulances are great modes of transportation in a time of sickness or an accident to render emergency care to the patients. They are equipped with much equipment needed so they can treat the illness or the injured on the way to the hospital in order to save a few precious minutes.
There are many kinds of ambulances used these days; such as vans, boats, helicopters, converted golf carts, even ATV or bicycles, or fix-wing aircraft, known as air ambulances. All these different types of ambulances goal is to transport the ill or injured to a hospital for their needed care and treatments.
In the case the regular ambulance not being able to easily get to the scene of the accident or if the ambulance cannot transport the patient quick enough to a hospital, the air ambulance is the next ambulance service that is used.
Some of the equipment that is carried on the air ambulance are ventilators, medication, an ECG, and monitoring unit, CPR equipment, stretchers, medications, bandages, braces, and portable resuscitation equipment. The air ambulance is equipped with life support equipment because usually if they are transporting a patient it is a very serious situation and a life could be at stake.
Most of the medical staff on the air ambulances are Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, flight nurses and sometimes a physician. There are some air ambulances that are more focused on life support and critical care and their medical staff crew on these air ambulances would be a physician, a surgeon, anesthetist, trauma specialist, along with specially trained advance care paramedic or nurse.
The pilot of the air ambulance is highly trained also because of the special maneuvers of the aircraft because of the uncommon urgency of the emergency. Many places that are at high risk of needing an air ambulance are attractions like rock climbing areas, difficult terrain or in coastal towns. Many of the air ambulances are used for search and rescue purposes also and are used by the military, coast guard, and many police offices.
There is an air ambulance service called the American Air Ambulance that you can call at 1-800-863-0312 or 941-536-2002 and they can answer about every question you might have regarding the air ambulance services, what the cost will be, who can be transported, how they work, etc. They deal lots with having to use an air ambulance internationally if you have someone abroad and they need air ambulance transport, they can help you with all the questions and information you will need.
Some of the air ambulances are funded by businesses making donations as a public relations gesture or goodwill. In some areas, air ambulance services are funded by voluntary charitable fundraising, or government funding, or maybe as a government supplement to local donations; but then there are the air ambulance services that charge a fee especially if they are privately owned, such as the charter companies, hospitals, and some private for profit Emergency Medical Systems services and this is the way most of the air ambulances services operate.
